My Vision for 2027: Building a Better Kericho County

·2 min read··By William Kipkurui Biegon

As we look ahead to 2027, I want to share my vision for the future of Kericho County and Kapsoit Ward. This is not just about politics — it is about the kind of future we want for our children, our farmers, and our communities.

Agriculture First

Kericho County is an agricultural heartland. Our tea, maize, and dairy sectors are the backbone of our economy. Yet too many of our farmers struggle with low prices, poor market access, and inadequate support.

My commitment is to champion policies that put farmers first:

  • Fair pricing through strengthened cooperative movements
  • Value addition — processing facilities that keep profits local
  • Extension services that reach every ward
  • Water harvesting and irrigation projects for food security

Education and Skills

Our young people are our greatest resource. Investing in education is investing in our future.

Bursary Programmes

During my time as MCA for Kapsoit Ward, bursary programmes were a top priority. I believe every talented student deserves a chance, regardless of their family's financial situation.

Technical Training

Not every young person needs to go to university. We need well-funded polytechnics and vocational centres that equip our youth with practical skills — plumbing, electrical work, ICT, and modern farming techniques.

Infrastructure

Good roads connect communities to markets, hospitals, and schools. I will advocate for:

  • Tarmacking of key feeder roads across Kapsoit Ward
  • Reliable electricity connections for rural trading centres
  • Modern health facilities within reach of every family

Youth and Women Empowerment

The bottom-up economic model championed by UDA resonates deeply with me. We must create an environment where:

  • Young entrepreneurs can access affordable credit
  • Women-led businesses receive targeted support
  • Community savings groups (chamas) are strengthened and formalised

A Call to Action

This vision cannot be achieved by one person alone. It requires the collective effort of every resident of Kapsoit Ward and Kericho County. I invite you to join this conversation — share your ideas, challenge my proposals, and hold me accountable.

Together, we can build a Kericho County that works for everyone.
